Jeri Kilzer Desrochers is an award winning artist from New Mexico and Colorado represented by Unsettled Gallery in Las Cruces, NM and online at www.jerisstudio.com.
"The beauty of the American southwest and its people inspires me to paint. I love the texture and organic feel of thick impasto oil paint which helps me capture the glowing colors and intensity I experience here. "
"I am currently working on a series of paintings depicting the Rio Grande farm valley of southern New Mexico. The fields remind me of my childhood growing up on a small family farm in eastern Nebraska. Here we grow chiles (both red chile peppers and my supreme addiction, green chile), cotton, onions and lettuce amoung other crops."
" The people who work close to the land have a dear spot in my heart and remind me of my father who worked so hard to make a go of it on a small farm. I hope to capture some of that spirit in my show in November 2011 at Unsettled Gallery titled "Vistas and Vignettes: Mesilla Valley Textures". I will be providing sneak peeks as the show gets closer."
