Making Spokane a Lindy Town with information, lessons and events.
This is a production company that produces
vintage swing events.
Each year we have three annual events that are mainstays in our calendar:
Weekend of workshops studying the dances of the Big Band and Jazz Ears, with special attention to the the Lindy Hop. Instructors are invited to teach their specialty and provide additional historic information tying to learn danced the original form.
Last weekend in January: Elective Weekend
We work on a variety of dances that are part of the Swing genre of music and dances. Some years we have worked on Blues dancing with Damon Stone as our visiting instructor. We have worked on following as a dynamic skill set.
April: Spokane Vintage Swing Festival
Nestled snugly in Jazz Appreciation Month (April) SVSF is a weekend long celebration of Swing music, one of the original forms of Jazz. It is in a series of venues in town that have been historically places for Swing music to have been played or danced to. Other venues are new parts to our Spokane music culture.
Mondays Weekly: Vintage Swing Night.
We have a regular night of lessons and dancing. Currently held at Satori, 122 S Monroe, these classes are drop-in in format and are great for people who do not have a dance partner and have never danced before. Classes are informal in nature to produce social dancers that practice lead follow skills.
Lastly, we have begun coordinating a dance team to perform at local events that have Gatsby, Prohibition, WW II themes so that we can share our love for dance at private or public events.
