Virgil is a seasoned executive financial manager. He is a Certified Non-Profit Accounting Professional (CNAP) with over 15 years of progressive executive and senior management accounting experience most recently as the Controller of Union Theological Seminary in New York City. Prior to his work at Union Theological Seminary, he performed Controller and CFO consulting services for Fiscal Management Associates (FMA) and The Fortune Society, and was the Vice President-Controller of Accion New York.
Currently Virgil is the Principal of Financial and Management Accounting Consulting Services (FAMACS) a company specializing in empowering Non-Profit organizations in implementing and maintaining effective and efficient financial systems including fiscal policies and internal controls.
As a founding member of the Brooklyn Cooperative Federal credit Union, Virgil, in 1997 was instrumental in presenting the Federal Credit Union charter application securing approval by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA). He subsequently served as Treasurer, member of the Board of directors and Chairman of the Advisory Committee. Virgil also served on the Board of Directors of the Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) New York City Chapter.
He specializes in Federal, State and Local Government grant contract vouchering, fiscal reporting and compliance. As CFO/Controller of a Bronx New York Non-profit Social Service Agency, Virgil initiated and was responsible for the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Development Disabilities (OMRDD) approval of four years rate appeals retroactive in the amount of $1.1 million.
Virgil attained a certificate in Microsoft Network Systems Engineering from Micropower Computer Institute, New York and from New Hampshire University, New Hampshire he received certification in Credit union Management and Board of Directors Governance Training. Virgil Holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Pace University, New York.
Virgil is affiliated with and provides consultant services to caIS, a Florida based subcontractor for the Homeland Security Management Institute, a designated Department of Homeland Security Center of Excellence under HR1 - Improving America's Security Act of 2007.
Virgil is an active member and officer of a Non-profit Faith based organization, travelling extensively locally and internationally providing volunteer youth, family and financial counseling.
Virgil Seepersad is currently the Chief Financial Officer at Queens Parent Resource Center Inc., a non-for-profit agency serving the Developmentally Disabled in New York City.
