I started my radio broadcast career in 1968 at WSBA AM/FM, the flagship stations of Susquehanna Broadcasting Company, in York, PA. Together with my business partner, Stephen Trivers, I co-founded Fairfield Broadcasting Company in 1972 and purchased WQLR-FM, our flagship station, in Kalamazoo, MI. We added AM/FM stations in Fort Wayne, IN, Lexington, KY, 3 additional stations (WKZO, WQSN and WKLZ in Kalamazoo) along with a radio consulting company, KalaMusic. KalaMusic was sold in 1992 to Seattle's Lester Smith and Fairfield was sold inb 2006 to Midwest Communications. I have 2 sons, Brian (1968) and Kevin (1972) and married Maria Collins in 1992. Brian and his wife Jody have 3 children (Brianna, Lauren & Tyler) and Kevin and his wife Jessica have 2 children (Beckett and Everett). We moved to Friday Harbor, WA in the San Juan islands, in 2007 and enjoy sailing our Catalina 42 AirWaves as well as our home adjacent to Friday Harbor Labs pristine forrest with glimpses of the Port of Friday Harbor. I am the Rear Commodore of the San Juan Island Yacht Club, am a Trustee of the San Juan Community Theatre, and Vice President of our Gateway One homeowners association. Maria actively supports my demanding schedule and also serves ont the Board of 1st Mates and is a member of the theatre's CATS group. Maria has 2 sons, Patrick (1972) and Peter (1970).
